    Small tarp and pack protection

I'm looking for some help on where to put my pack to keep it out of the weather. I have tried to hang my pack from the suspension and hide it under my hammock but it still ends up wet. I know a larger tarp would fix things, but that is not an option at this point.
    Any ideas?

That might work. I just need to close the end and be able to use it again the next day if the weather pattern stays the same. I tried the rain jacket but that didn't work at all. I just had a wet jacket inside and out along with a wet pack.

Macentyre makes a gear hammock you can hang under your sleeping hammock.

If you have a pack cover for your pack, you could hang your pack to one of the trees your hammock is attached to with the hip belt and use a piece of cord through the top grab handle to hold the top. At worst, you get a wet hip belt.

Depending on the size of our hammock and pack, you could also store it in your hammock in any spare space that you have in there.

Mac's gear hammock is made of silnylon and has a flap to completely enclose it so it need not be hung under your hammock or tarp to keep things dry.

+1. I put my pack under my hammock (foot end usually, which is higher than my lowest point.) Since I normally bring a small piece of tyvek, the pack stays off the dirt.....

Pull your pack liner out of the pack and put the pack inside the pack liner. Problem solved. I know what you're thinking. You're welcome.

Thanks for the responses. I will be heading up the hill again tonight for a sleep in the trees. The wind has been very difficult and I want figure this out so I can hang out at Strawberry until it gets solid.
    So far I have tried:
    - Rain jacket as mention before.
    - A standard black trash bag and it didn't make it through the night
so if it rained, my pack would have been wet.
    - Tried to put my pack in the hammock - Not enough room one of us had to leave and the pack lost...

    Next up:
    - Tie it to the trees with the rain cover.
    - Wrap it with plastic and lay it on the ground.

Thanks again for the insight. Back up the hill for more R&D (isn't this fun? for me anyway)
