Is a "T" shape strut viable? It appears to be a bit lighter and could simplify anchor points as you could just drill through it. (would that weaken it too much?) It's also available in 25' lengths. Seeing as it's less aluminum it should be cheaper than tubing.

I can't begin to tell you folks as a near 50 Yld, I was giddy as a schoolboy finding this thread. So I am looking forward to next year building this in Bamboo or Lightweight aluminum.

We have a Bamboo field nearby where the stuff is 1 & 1/2 inch and 15 feet + so I can harvest 13 0r 14 feet pieces.

After watching several videos and the woopie sling thing, clearly the poles are 12 feet, in steel or aluminum. Nobody is revealing the length of the ropes or the length of the smaller or larger triangles. What is up with that?

That is one of the problems with the conduit I was using. It comes in 10 foot lengths. This required making the bottom triangle very small in order to get enough span across the top for my hammock. It was still very tight. It added a lot of extra pull on the anchor across from the hammock side.

I would have to set it up again to get exact measurements, but the top tendons were about 11 feet, the bottom tendons were a little less than 5 feet, and I don't remember the lengths for the risers. Basically, it held the top corners a little over 5 feet (about chin level).

in most of the videos the foik are below 6 foot and the lateral triangle is above their head so again I read your post (Thanks for replying) and - well I don't know.......Stumped.

Ok and what thickness of nylon or paracord are we discussing here?

I used 7/64 amsteel for all tendons and 1" rachet straps for the tensioning.
