Entiat Meadows hang 9-13-10 to 9-15-10

Did a trip up into the Entiat Valley of North Central Washington State this last week. It was a chance to clear my head and come to grips with being unemployed for the first time in nearly 30 years, along with my 54th birthday. My dog Max and I made it to the Ice Creek trail junction before twilight persuaded us to camp for the night. I did a test of my new Svea and also had a go at using my homemade bodybag as an underquilt. It worked quite well, but I had a few cold spots due to either compression of the insulation or more likely drafts from the ends which I could not get tight against the hammock. We dayhiked into the upper Entiat Meadows and spent a second night at Ice Creek. I wrote a more involved trip report here:http://www.nwhikers.net/forums/viewtopic.php?t=7986640
    Here are a few pics:

Looks like this trip caught the tail end of the last spell of decent weather in this part of the Washington Cascades. Seems like the weather has been yucky for the most part last week.

Sorry to hear about the layoff.

To down on drafts, try one of those shiny, foil space blankets under the body bag if you haven't yet. I know that makes a huge difference in a Speer PeaPod and a HH undercover.

Fantastic pictures thanks for sharing. That's rotten luck on the layoff. Keep your chin up and keep a positive attitude. Hopefully something will come your your way soon.
