Pull outs on a Cat cut tarp?

    Hello hanger-uppers,
Has anybody ever added pull outs on a cat cut tarp? I am thinking about adding a couple up into the tarp to have it pull away from the hammock when I am in a steep pitch. As in the style of a Ray-Way tarp As a person who is not a math-whiz, I wonder if the pull outs would affect the properties of the cat-cut theory of tight pitch.
One way or the other I will try it as it is my own dyi tarp.
Any advice would be mucho appreciato.

    Thanks for that Rapt!

they make a huge difference shug. i've been using them for a couple years or more.
really helpful on those occasions when the inside of the tarp is as wet as the outside.

if you sew them, sew them round

I am definitely going to do round ones and sew them on the inside of the tarp and the pull outs on the outside.
    Thanks for all the input.

my 1st tarp had round pull out reinforcement patches. the 2nd had rectangles.
the round seemed to distribute the forces better & have shown no sign of stress, but the rectangle pull outs are beginning to stress at the stitch lines.

but be warned... sewing the round reinforcement patches & turning that large piece of fabric is a real pain
i'm thinking about just adding another seam (end to end like the ridge line) to my next tarp & putting the pull outs on it. that would be stronger yet in high winds.

you asked about how the pull outs would affect the cat cut tarp. i don't really know about that. both of mine have been on non-cat cut, rectangle tarps.
but i have thought that i may have both cat cuts & pull outs on the next tarp.
let us know how that does if you go that route. i think it would probably do fine.

I used the Grip Clips with the Speer Winter Tarp this weekend. The SWT is really narrow when pitched so that the ends will close up. The Grip Clips really gave me that extra room I needed.

Interesting. I'm getting the JRB cat tarp. Any future pics of the grip clips with the SWT would be cool.
