Jazilla you did a wonderful job. That is a hammock to be proud of and should serve you well. Looks like you went without a shelf or is it just not shown? Next we want some pics of it all geared up out in the woods . I almost forgot , how does it feel for comfort?

I started out making it for myself and somehow it ended up being my brothers and the mail man delivered some camo ripstop for mine. Funny how that worked out my wife told me.

I actually slept in it without the bugnet a few Saturdays ago for the super moon and it was great. Finished length is 108'' ridgeline at around 86''. I had originally put a shelf on it but my brother didn't want it. Said the side was too high to reach the contents. Which is why I made the small no-see-um pouch on that side. For my next one I will go with a shorter but longer foot box and see how that works out with the shelf.

All in all it was a fun build and I am amped to start on my younger brother's double layer.

On a side note. The blue trip is home made. It was a sort of pain but the end was easier as I got pointers from here to iron it first. Helped out a bunch. The blue is just 2'' strips of DWR ripstop I had from an TQ project.

I am busy cutting my material as per the original post, but have come to a dead end.... what dimensions does one make the shelf? I have only seen videos over the net of the WBBB and thus no idea what size to make the shelf. Advice please.... Thanks

The shelf can be added after you sew the footbox. Pin a rectangle of shelf fabric over lapping the foot box 6" and start pinning until you reach the end of the whipping (head side). Make your marks for cutting on shelf material and cut, sew, and attach bug netting.

The dimensions of the footbox in the pattern are too big for a 120" hammock. You will be better of making a smaller triangle. 26x26x29-ish works for me.

Thanks BodhiKnight, I'm going to try that.

Me thinking here. Has anyone tried making the foot box longer on the long side. What if the long side equaled the length of the combined length of the two shot sides. To me this would make both sides of the hammock the same length and stop the high stress Point on the footboy side. Just me thinking.

Cacher, the footbox is 26x26x35 not 26x26x29ish. Sorry about the miscalculation.

    Updated Instructions

I finally got around to updating my double layer hammock instructions and I have included a section on how to build the WBB clone of the shelf/footbox.

I debated about putting the WBBB clone directions up, not wanting to take away anything from Brandon's IP. However, after reading through this thread it looks like quite a few people are taking a crack at building their own. I wanted to show how I build mine, I believe it is similar to the production WBB shape and measurements.

    Thanks,

    BG

Blackgoat, after going through your instructions I noticed you only hem one edge and that's the inner layer where being hemmed near the zipper. Do you not roll hem any other edges and if not do you ever have fraying problems. I find it takes most of my time rolling everything then finishing the edge with grosgrain or bias. this would make my process much faster if it is structurally sound.
