    Double Footbox

I'm hoping someone will save me some time from trying an idea that won't work... I'm pondering a double footbox (one on both sides of the foot end)... or maybe a quadruple footbox kind of like a pseudo-reverse-anti-darted design...

hmm, the worst that will happen is I have a bunch stuff sacks to make i guess...

Would you be able to clarify what you mean? Are you talking about a WBBB-style footbox on a gathered-end hammock? Or.... did you mean footboxes (feetbox?) on both sides of a TQ?

If you're talking about the former, you'd only need two. (Flip the hammock over and it's automatically four.) I don't know why that wouldn't work- but what are you trying to accomplish? Sometimes, if "the community" knows what it is you want to get done, they'll suggest something that hadn't crossed your mind yet.

I assume we're talking gathered end hammocks...

Sounds to me like you're talking about a hybrid gathered-end/Bridge hammock.

    sorry... to clarify

I'm talking about a gathered end hammock, like a WBBB, but I'd add a triangle to each side, instead of only one.

It's really nothing more than a feasablity study at the moment. I'm wondering whether it would work to allow a flatter lay with head left/feet right and head right/feet left, or whether it will end up just dropping the foot end either way.

Maybe i'll make a quick prototype tonight and see what happens... with pictures of course.

I think the stress of getting in and out could stress the seems of the footboxes. I could be wrong though.

Odds is spot on. The double footbox will limit ease of entry and exit. It can work but will stress the fabric greatly on the entrance side.

Remember, Brandon says the footbox does not change the lay of the hammock. On a netless hammock it does help keep your quilt from falling out.

I've also contemplated adding one to each side of my DIY gathered end but like odds and gargoyle note, it could overstress the hammock, so for now I only have it on one side and enter from the other.

I thought about putting one on either end one for your shoulder and one for your feet.

Essentially doing with a footbox what Hennessy does with a bugnet...turning a symmetric hammock body into an asymmetric.
