    Help me ID this cordage

A few months ago, I had an encounter with one of the Cuben tents out there called the Hexamid. I ended up having to send it back for budgetary reasons... But I noted that the cord he used was very thin, like 1.5mm or maybe less, and used tiny toggles. The small toggles I can find--but what is this thin cord? It's slightly like copper wire, but more flexible. Black, if I recall, and slightly shiny. Name? Source?
    Thanks,
    Jonathan in St. Paul
