    VIDEO: Hangin' Out with Doctari

Doctari and I spent a recent afternoon shooting this--it's a collection of tips and tricks and a bit of talk about how Doctari approaches hammock camping. Doctari is really a character, if you haven't had the pleasure to find out yourself, and we had a great time. Hopefully he will do more of these...

    Enjoy!

    --Scott <><

"I fish because I love to; because I love the environs where trout are found, which are invariably beautiful... because, in a world where most men seem to spend their lives doing things they hate, my fishing is at once an endless source of delight and an act of small rebellion; because trout do not lie or cheat and cannot be bought or bribed or impressed by power, but respond only to quietude and humility and endless patience...." --Robert Traver

Guys thanks so much for video! I have been talkign with Doctari about the IX Hammock sock, and I think I may just have it now.
Its a proven fact that 78.4% of all statstics are made up on the spot.

I really enjoy the videos on the forum. Thanks. You learn something each time . . . . This time I learned how not to put stress on the Dutch Clip. I will also have a pack leash in my kit.

Thanks to Bonsai Hiker for helping me with this, & the tour of his Bonsai Collection, He's got some Sweet trees there!

One thing that got left out due to an equipment malfunction that we didn't know about till we got home:

Where the BBO or Bear Burrito Oven & the Warbonnet Blackbird hammock came from.
The BBO is from Arrowhead Equipment & can be found on their website
    http://arrowheadequipment.webs.com/
    & the warbonnet hammock @ http://warbonnetoutdoors.com/

And I forgot to mention one place you can get Whoopie Slings:
    http://whoopieslings.com/
& dutch clips are to be had at
    http://Jacksrbetter.com

Thanks for watching! We hope to do more soon.

The pack falling down the hill was / is based on a real experience told to me (Minutes after it happened) just north of Damascus, I met a neighbor / fellow hammocker of mine (He lives 3 miles from my PT job) first thing in the AM, & he was fairly winded for it being so early. He told me his story: "I set up in a really cool spot right on a hill. Slept like a baby & woke to a neat view, you couldn't have put a tent within 50' of me. Well, I was just finishing packing up, had the pack leaning against one of the trees I hung from, turned to pick up something & heard an odd noise. I knew instantly it was my pack, with my newly replaced camera* in an outside pocket, falling head over heels down the hill I was on. So, the reason I'm out of breath, I just climbed that hill."

Yea, it was a steep one. I invented the pack leash then & there, with the first one being 550 cord. The current model does double duty as a hammock suspension extender. My pack leash is 4' long.

*my friend had this camera less than 24 hrs. Thankfully, it was undamaged, the first one got broken during a similar fall the week before.

good to see ya again Doctari! Thanks Bonsaihiker for posting this, good editing!

Happens that I use a variant of the pack leash meself. Just a 6' piece of cord : long enough to go around a modest tree doubled over plus some. Clove-hitch around the tree, form a marlin-spike hitch on the tails (use a trail stick), hook the pack loop around the marlin spike.

Thanks Bonsaihiker and Doctari. I hope you enjoyed Doe Run - its where I go to get outside when I can't get away from home. If you dropped your pack from the top of that hill it would be a real haul.

Doctari, I look forward to meeting you some time.
