i got a feeling Feb is going to be a bad month
It puts the Underquilt on it's hammock ... It does this whenever it gets cold

Be careful. It's supposed to snow super hard starting around 5-6pm this evening, into mid day tomorrow. They're calling for a pretty big storm. Looks like it hit Seattle pretty hard.
But.... you're from the Big Sky State, so you know how to drive in snow !!!!!!

I'm loving it. Taking the family over the Blues tomorrow on our way to Portland. We'll be stopping for the night near Pendleton to stay in a Yurt. I told my wife I plan to bring my hammock gear so I can finally test out my new DIY UQ and see how low I can go. She's convinced I'm barking mad. Last I checked, overnight low is going to be 9-11*F (depending on the forecast source). I'm confident my UQ will go to the 20's without supplement, but not sure about single digits

Worst case, I bail to the Yurt and learn I can't do single digits w/ my UQ. Good to know your limits IMO. I'll be supplementing w/ a sitpad under my feet, a few handwarmers, 0* bag for TQ, plenty of clothing and I plan to try using my Poncho Liner as an overcover as discussed in some other forums to help assist in a warmer micro-climate.

    Here's hoping.

Went up the hill yesterday and noticed the pond is half frozen and the banks are lined with snow. Went for a short stroll and found that the trip would have been better with snowshoes. I have a feeling that the snowshoes will be getting a workout this year.

A picture from my deck yesterday in Seattle. This snow is really early and the cold (24f at the moment) is very unusual.

Wonky weather. It has given me some good cold weather experimentation time in the back yard, though, which I've used to sort out/fine tune some key elements of my rig. My dogs and the furry aliens (cats) aren't too keen on it though, as they have to stay inside in the warm house, while their human is sleeping outside.

I wonder how this winter will play out. Hmmm......

Meeker, Colorado. 3 -4 inches of snow (hard to tell it blew so hard) and 14 below zero F. It never seems to fail when the weather prognosticators start predicting severe to terrifying winter snowstorms and blizzards, we end up with a skiff of snow, horrible wind, and colder than a witches ***! It cleared up yesterday to beautiful blue skies and is the same this morning.

    Happy Thanksgiving everyone.
