    "alone in the wild"

I saw it on Natgeo. It is a show about a fella taking off alone into the Yukon wilderness for three months. A true long term campout. He does have a woodland camo tarp and hammock with bugnet. HH?

Sorry if this is the wrong place to post.

    Pretty good show.

Just came across it and was wondering if that was a hammock because I didn't get the beginning. Seems good..

Wow.. Pretty good. I wish I caught the beginning to see where he is starting from, experience, etc. what the overall goal is.

I hate dropping in at the mid point.

I think the goal was to just survive in the wild for 3 months. Part of his living an "extraordinary" life.

He appears to sleep in his sleeping bag with most of his clothes and no underquilt/undercover. He does have a spot emergency locator and has to check in each day.

I hope this is a new series; there was a similar show discussed several months ago- I don't think he lasted more than 2 weeks..and was described as 'awfully whiney about it' at that..lack of mental preparation was the consensus.
again- this may be a new show..

The series is well worth watching. It follows a british guy called Ed Wardle (an Everest veteran)and his struggle to survive off the land. He really struggles towards the end with his mental state-he was missing home too much. He came in for a bit of stick over here, which I felt was a bit unfair-the editing and production focused on the negatives a lot.
Inspirational stuff though, it made me want to have a go myself.
The lightweight fans will find his backpack entertaining, and I wish he'd have visited HF before he went- his tarp was next to useless in the prolonged rain.

It does seem worth while, I am hoping the reruns continue, I am recording to see the series.

Wow.. He does cry a lot. A lifetime of crying potential and he uses it all up in one show.

Is this yet another semi to full on scripted "survival" show where the expert is followed by a camera crew and personal chef (for when the camera is off)?

I'm sure his hammock isn't an HH as it has spreader bars on the bugnet.
