I think it has been 3-4 years but I can't remember exactly. I started using a hammock not long after finding White Blaze. My first hammock was a HH ULBA.

    February of 2007.

Still pissed it took me so long to find out. Somebody had a signature here when I first joined that said "Why didn't anybody tell me I didn't have to sleep on the ground". I always liked that one.

I rounded up to 2 years. It's been about 1 year and 9 months... Wow, time really flies!

One weekend in 1964 in a military jungle hammock followed by a 43 year hiatus probably doesn't count for any more than the time spent with my HH since July '07. So... less than one year. But, one year and counting on more with no hiatus.

    How many years

The first year I camped in a hammock was in 1964 at Bass Lake, California. Pitched it up with a view of the lake and set up a rope to a stake that I would use to get it rocking after climbing in. Don't ever remember it stopping.

I started in 2002, after I met Hammock Hanger on Springer Mountain on New Year's Eve of 2001 when I was finishing up a fall through winter section hike of the Bartram Trail up to Cheoah Bald and the AT back to Springer Mountain. I had recently thru hiked the Appalachian Trail and when Hammock Hanger mentioned backpacking with a hammock it sounded like an interesting way to get through the White Mountains of New Hampshire if I ever backpacked the AT through there again.
