Don't worry, we will have warmer hangs as well. Sorry we won't get the chance to meet you this weekend.

<~~~~ Live in Guntersville, work in Huntsville. Glad to see more Hangers popping up!

I split the difference between Huntsville and Gadsden!

I'll be trying to get together a Guntersville Hang in the spring, but may not be able to. I plan to start an annual hang in Guntersville, but don't think this year will work out as my girl is pregnant and having complications so she's on strict bedrest.

For the time being though welcome to the forum, and I hope to meet you all sometime in the near future.

A hang in Guntersville would mean paddle time on the lake!

I did my first hang in my garage last night, I made it an hour. My sleeping pad and the bag I was sleeping on liked to move. I understand the need for an under quilt in cold weather. The cold air likes to suck the heat right through the hammock. I was very comfortable, minus the cold. I used a cheap mummy bag, unzipped, for a top quilt, I like that. I was a little concerned with my craftsmanship, I made my own 12" continuous loops from amsteel and used rings from AHE, but all held fine. I also made 2 whoopie slings and a whoopie ridge line but connected ratcheting nylon straps instead, since I was hanging from the garage door supports. It was a little high, but I am just glad I did it, probably will try again tonight.

    Guntersville Lake Hang in Q1?

Poorguy and I would be about equidistance from the Lake. Is anyone thinking of a community hang there in Q1 or early Q2? Summertime is no good for either of us.

He made the comment "if we don't start planning now it won't happen." Last night Tom Cruise said "Someday is code for never." All of this leads up to my putting more hangs and paddling on my calendar now so I begin committing mentally and physically.

We don't know the area so someone local would have to scout it out.

    Thanks.
