AHHH! Which Blackbird should I get?

I am 165 pounds and 6 foot tall. Can't decide which one to get? Blackbird Double Layer 1.1 (comes in black) BB Double Layer 1.7 (olive green) I would like for other people to be able to try it out that weigh more than I do. I would also like the option of laying in it with my girlfriend sometime. Don't know which to get since they are both the same price. Would the 1.7 have a stiffer lay that would not be as flat as the 1.1?

Any suggestions or from people in this weight class that own one would be much appreciated as I'm having a hard time deciding.

I just read the thread about imported blackbirds from China and was wondering if the new Blackbird 1.1 dl (black) is an imported item? I would rather have a handmade product in America so that could affect my decision aswell. Sort of thinking out loud!!!

i'd recommend the double 1.1 or double 1.0. others could still try it out even if they are heavier, should be ok for someone up to 300 to test, but wouldn't as flat "for them"

at your weight, dl1.1/1.0 vs dl1.7 will be same flatness, dl1.1/1.0 would probably be more comfy for you actually as going overkill on the fabric causes more of a knee ridge for some

all BB's currently on the website are USA made. all imports are marked with an (i) on the website. import BB will be online eventually. both import and domestic are handmade by a person (using a sewing machine of course)

Wow! Thanks so much for the reply warbonnetguy! I didn't expect a reply directly from you as I know you are probably very busy with the holidays around the corner... Thanks again!

I'm about 180 and just bought the 1.0 double. I seem to lie flat as the proverbial pancake. Why buy anything heavier than you need? That was my thinking when I chose mine. Like Brandon said...it'll take much heavier weight...just may not be quite as flat.

Either way...you're gonna be a happy camper.

Haha I like that (proverbial pancake!) Leaning towards the 1.1 dl.

    Thanks for the post Miguel!

I just snatched up one of those american made double 1.1s in black. Can't wait for it to be here. I ordered mine saturday and Brandon said there should only be around 15 left. After that they'll be going to the imports for the double 1.1 only and they won't be in black. So if that's what you want, get it asap. The black was a big deal for me as I know it is with others. It would be cool if they could stay black but the old grey looks awesome too.

I'm about the same weight and height as you, and I was thinking of the the double 1.1 or the 1.7. But even though the 1.7 is overkill for me, I really like the olive green colour.

For me its coming down to which colour I want, I have to decide between the black or the olive green - decisions, decisions.

That's a hard decision. I struggled for awhile, hah. You couls always do the single layer 1.7? If you're even remotely interested in the double 1.1 remeber as it stands, soon they will be the outsourced ones(I'm sure they'll still be wonderful quality), and who knows if they'll ever have them in black. Good luck buddy. I don't think you can go wrong with any.

Wellllll.... I finally fell for the 1.1 BB in BLACK baby! I'll be hiking it around and liked Miguel's advice about why get something heavier than you really need? Plus did I mention it's in black! (can't wait to get tangled up in it when its a moonless night!!!)

Payment has to go through and then the wait begins...
