    Update

Little more info ... spoke to Alan Hyde who lives up at the northern end of the gorge. There's about 3 inches of snow in most of the gorge and right now it's above freezing by a few degrees but all that would crust over tonight. So without a lot of warm weather being in the forecast up there ... and that front predicted for the weekend ... might be a bit gnarling on the road ways and little more work on the hiking this weekend.

I'll let you know if I hear more.

Thanks for keeping us in the loop. I'm afraid 105 out of Lake James which is how we would come will be a slanted ice rink. I got 4WD but if it's ice that wont matter. I was thinking of us hiking Wilson instead, trying to get up Pineola to Lost Cove, Harpers. If Pineola is iced up we can turn around and go park at Yellow Buck (incorrectly called Raiders by us mtn bikers) and walk into Harpers from there. That might be the proper plan anyhow. Getting up Pineola and getting down Pineola might be two different issues.

Unless you're talking about a dog named SPOT ... that dang thing don't work in the gorge ... but makes a very nice paperweight!
