making loops in straps-sewn vs knots

Is there a substantial strength difference between a sewn loop and a tied loop (bowline) at the end of a piece of 1 inch polyester strapping? I have done several test hangs using the bowline knotted loop on the end of the suspension strap and it seems to holds fine without any evidence of slipping.

slipping isn't much of a problem, a knot severely weakens the webbing, just like it does with line, depending on the knot used, with line it is usually around half as strong as un-knoted line, so you just have to make sure you have a big enough margin of error. the same is true for webbing, if your webbing is rated to over 1000# to begin with, you are probably fine.
