Dutch clips - facing up or down?

I luvs me Dutch clips but I'm curious. Is there an up or down to them? I see in Dutch's video that he mounts his "upside down".

Is there a mechanical reason for this? It seems counter-intuitive to me but what do I know?

    No difference to me.
I usually do them open end down, but someone here pointed out that, like horseshoes, you want them facing up to keep the luck from running out.

WHen I used them I kept them facing up for 2 reasons,

    1. sunliminlay they just looked/felt more secure

    2. Don't let your luck run out
Sometimes I like to hike and think, And sometimes I just like to hike.

Hiking is'ent about waiting for the storm to pass its about learning to hike in the rain.

    It doesn't make any difference.

What does make a difference is making sure the webbing is seated properly in the clip, and avoiding a choker hitch configuration.

It doesn't matter but I put them with the openning down and I am a pretty lucky guy. Not to mention easy on the eyes.

I'm a total noob so give this post all the consideration that caveat merits, but simple physics says it's easier to clip in on a downward motion than upward.. gravity and all.

I'm a lefty and if I were using one, I'd opt for facing down unless someone told me specifically not to. I need to get me some of those, I've put it off now for longer than I should have. Maybe after the hang this weekend.
