    HH Bag as Peak Bag?

I noticed that on the bottom of the bag that the hammock comes in there is a little loop. This reminded me of what Shug referred to as a "peak bag". Could it be used as one? I could find a way to attach it to my hammock however. Ideas, thoughts?

It absolutely can. Peak bag = upside down stuff sack. It is a good multi-use of an item.

    Warbonnet bag

I use the Warbonnet hammock bag as a peak bag. A flag clip between the cord lock and bag is how I attach it to the ridgeline. The flag clip also marks the head end of the hammock.

I usually use mine as the peak bag, but putting anything heavy in there will pull on the stitching. Mine hasn't failed yet, but I won't be surprised if it does eventually wear through.

To attach it, I use a tiny carabiner hooked over the ridge line at the top of the head end. The ridge line should have a short tail, use this to tie a stopper knot on the ridge line and hook the crab in gap that's made. This stops it sliding along the ridge line. Make sure the weight is on the ridge, not the stopper knot.

With a picture being worth 67 words ^, here's a diagram and a LINK for the stopper knot.

    Balance Bag

I tried this one for a short 2 mile hike yesterday and it worked pretty well.

Inspired by the balance bag design at

    http://www.aarnusa.com/pack_mountainmagic.htm

I threw a short length of webbing (you could probably double up a tree hugger) over my neck (dangling in front). I then hooked one of two HH bags by the drawcord to each side. Then using the hook on the bottom loop I hooked them to my belt loops.

To help balance the load I actually looped the webbing (back of neck) through the lift strap of my pack and it seemed to counterweigh the front and back weights.

What is really nice is that one of the bags held my tarp (which could easily get wet anyway) and the other my hammock in snake skins so there is redundant weather protection. Also has the added bonus of giving my quick front access to my tarp without dropping my bag.

Kind of silly looking, but maybe it will inspire improvements. Oh and the reason I am using larger s-biners is not because they're needed but because they're what I'm using already so I don't lose them or need to bring even more clips.

    Another Thought

I noticed that the bag the HH pad (HH SS) comes in now is double ended (draw string on both ends). I now use the two internal mitten hooks on the RL to hang the cinch cords off and have a long overhead tube to store all kinds of stuff, and when I'm ready for lights out I slide it back on the RL.

Which brings up a new question, does anyone else keep the stock organizer bag? It seems to be tricky to work with (i.e. a little small for most items, doesn't slide well, the small pocket is angled strangely).

I picked up a couple of those bags. They are great for keeping my sleeping clothes in the pack and putting my jacket in for a pillow in the hammock. Good stuff for sure...

I attach it with some mason line. Works great.
