The NEXT Goat Island Hang (Lake Greenwood, SC). . .

Some initial conversations have started taking place about planning the next Goat Island Hang. With some thoughts about the dates, a decision to have it a bit sooner this year was made to avoid sleeping in warm-hot temps. Currently the idea is to plan this event the weekend before Memorial Day ( May 20th - 22nd ) as we want to avoid the holiday traffic on the lake. Hoping that will be warm enough to enjoy the lake during the day yet cool enough in the evenings to enjoy the campfire at night and sleep soundly through the evening.

Goat Island is only reachable by boat and the parking area for this hang is located directly across from the island, about a 15-20 minute paddle. There is also a boat ramp for those that wish to arrive by "mechanical power" instead of "human power". Hoping to have enough notice in planning this event that we may have a few motor boats out there to assist with shuttling for those that do not have access to a boat but would like to attend. Worst case scenario. . . the REDNECK SKI will be available . . .

Last year's event was a GREAT time. Great peeps, great food, great times For a trip report from last year's event check out. . . http://www.hammockforums.net/forum/s...ht=Goat+Island. Plans include a Saturday Night Low Country Frogmore Beaufort Boil .

Looking forward to it. . .

I'm putting this on the calendar.
If I don't blow up the boat between now and then, I'd be happy to shuttle.

Sounds good Swampfox. Guess I already know what your contribution will be for the Saturday night dinner. Well, I know it will be some kind of desert baked in 1 or more Dutch Oven(s).

Sounds like fun! Put me down as a tentative, it all depends on work (don't it always...)
It could be that the purpose of my life is merely to serve as a warning to others.

Just a thought . . .might want to get that permit to include that Thursday too. If I can get free from work, I'll start taking stuff over that day and hang Thursday night as well. Plus it may account for those "characters" that decide to show up a day early just for the fun of it.

Consider it done! I will need to get anyone showing up early a copy of the permit so they will be "legal".

OK, so its been brought to my attention that the dates for this hang seems to be a tad confusing. So just to clarify, the hang is scheduled for the weekend of May 20th - 22nd, which will be the weekend prior to Memorial Day Weekend which is May 27th - 30th.

    Hope that clears things up.
