Let's see, the 12' long ridge Poll holds the center of the tri pods at 10' apart at there center when lashed together. The tarp at 11' from (D ring to D ring) goes over this sable structure, It's a hex tarp no other parts in the way. The 6" slips in between the three uprights on top of the poll and lashed. My hammock has a 8' distance from it's ridge line points, then the whoopee slings hang from the ends of the ridge poll pulling the weight down the legs and not pulling the tri pods together at the top.
Little people had a lower swing height than the adults. The points at the bottom of the landscape polls dig in and stay put yet can be Easley moved.
    Hope this helps.

    Thanks ONT

Right. Everything is pulling either down or toward the center, so all you need is enough room for a round of cordage or two.

    I think I'm going to cut them like hppyfngy, 2 x 5', 1 x 6' & 1 x 4'. I can try 14' and go from there.

That way my tarp ends aren't on the tripods at all.

    It works out to be pretty handy. 9', 10', 11', 14', 16'...

And if it turns out 12' is your sweet spot, you can cut one again.

I would think The length of the ridge poll should be long enough for the tarp to lay flat on the poll and not over the tri pods (could poke a hole in the tarp). It just needs to be stouter the longer it gets, to hold the weight and compression over a longer span. IMHO. Just trying to help.

Bleh! I failed. Lashings didn't hold and I was slowly lowered to the ground.

Also, my continuous loops were too short.

When I get time I'll see if I can tighten everything up or grab some hardware and convert it to a TDS.

I saw you used para cord for your lashing. Might I suggest try using a nonnylon type of rope. One that has more bite to it. Or use more wraps and fraps than you would normally use when using para cord.

I think it was my error. I believe it's the first tripod I lashed and I don't think I did it is tight as I should have.
