    Hello everybody,

well, in everybody's interest I guess it's best to just set a date, so I hereby propose the weekend of saturday 16 and sunday 17 april.

We can start on saturday the 16th at around noon (12.00). Meeting location and parking facility will be at the holiday park of engreux (http://bit.ly/e9jqd3) in the belgian ardennes (near houffalize) at the 'trois ourthes', the point where three parts of the ourthe river come together (or more accurately, split).

From there we will have a relaxed hike of about 2 to 3 hours (including breaks) to the camp destination at the bend of the river, near a nice ridge of the hill, here: http://bit.ly/fFOFi2

It's a great location for checking out the surroundings, the hills, the dam, the forest and the river, with an open area where we can hang out, and of course, lots of trees to hang in

We will break up camp on a sunday and everybody's free to stay or leave whenever you want of course. Personally, I'd like to just chill out till after lunch and be out of the forest at about 17.00.

A one nighter seems good to me to start out in this first dutch/belgian hangout. I'll probably leave on friday and camp out before. So those that are interested, feel free to tag along. I'm bringing at least two hammock friends, one Belgian and one Dutch.

We can carpool for those interested and I'll provide the itinerary and exact locations so you can all notify the folks at home.

Those that want to come and will come for sure, please state so in a post here

I'm very familiar with this area and it's a very pleasant and nice place to be. You can always contact me for info.
I'll give the exact details later on in this thread (locations, time, itinerary, etc)

For those that are coming, I would greatly appreciate it if you can provide details of any medical issues that might be important to know, just for the consideration of group safety. Please pm me if that's the case.

topographical maps are widely available in outdoor shops etc, but are not necessary, I can make some photocopies for the people that come along and the paths back home are easy to follow (just follow the river )

We can discuss weather conditions etc just before leaving so we know nobody will have a cold and wet night by discussing gear before we leave.

I hope this post makes it clear, I'm not trying to take lead here, I'm just trying to be precise and clear

Hope it suits everybody, It's a beautiful area, lots of place for hiking and camping.

I hope to see you all there, bring your friends

The Dutch/Belgian hammock hangout 2011 is about to begin!!!

Very interested, but having a hard time convincing myself that it's worth a 800 km drive (from Prague).
I will check out some flights, to Amsterdam, and if successful, perhaps i could catch a ride with someone ?
