Long time listener, first time caller

I originally joined the Hammock Forum several years ago, but had not really visited much, and not at all for the past couple of years. So, I'll consider myself a newbie. Tried to log in under my original user name and password but got no where, so I created a new identity.

Anyway, I've been hammock hanging for about 10 years. I own a Speer hammock, but I hardly ever hear that brand mentioned on white blaze. Are they still being made? I have no complaints with mine, and I think the hammock, rain fly, and stuff sacks weigh a total of just a little over a pound.

Are there better and lighter hammocks being made now? The coldest I've ever been camping with mine is 39 degrees, so I do not need under quilts, etc.

I look forward to spending some time on this forum, and hopefully learning some new tricks

hey man, welcome to the family of happy campers.
Speer hammocks are still available http://www.speerhammocks.com/index.html
as to better / lighter... maybe, perhaps more comfortable, more refined.
Speer is still a sweet hang.
