I'm just talking about that first knot (the one closest to the paracord). You can still use the biners without that knot and you do not need to undo everything to larkshead your rings.

oh yeah good point odds, never thought of that, i'm about to go do that, and for whoopie slings, it seems complicated, i feel like its something some one needs to show me in person, or maybe i havent done enough research, the little bar thing seems to push me away.
God saw all that he had made, and it was very good.

I just brought some whoopie slings thinking they would be hard to make, but once I got a hold of amsteel I realized how easy it would be (I brought and all in one set up so I'mhappy with my choice) but I would say just buy some....its only $ 10 for 50 feet from some of the cottage industries on here and my experince with hf vendors has been great ...very fast and reliable...lots of other people would say the same I'm sure

Here are some pictures of what I did on my Trek Light hammock. Same end channel design as the ENO. Also shows the cinch buckle set-up on a WB Traveler. Just larks head the rings directly to the ENO end suspension. It's super easy, takes about ten minutes tops. Remember with rings to tie a back-up half hitch. Back-up knot isn't needed with the cinch buckles. I recently switched my Trek Light to the chain link & CB set-up from AHE. Again very easy, just remove stock cord from end channel and thread chain link through the channel, larks head, done.

SMC descender rings from REI cost $2.95 each. Lightweight and climbing rated. Go to the REI website, type in SMC descender ring, and there you go. Worth every penny to be safe.

cataraftgirl, thats how I have mine set up now the rings directly attached to the stock cord on the hammock, before i go camping again or anything, I'm going to either get stronger rings or get the Cinch buckle and chain from AHE

ok, so maybe I am wierd, but i don't think the stock biners are THAT heavy......I keep them, sttach the whoopies to them and on the other end, I use lighter black diamond biners (climbing rated) to attach to my tree straps. It works for me I guess. I am not a gram weenie though. I would rather err on the side of caution and have a little heavy duty everything so I don't crash in the night. For those who have met me (tendertoe, rip, slo, stormcrow, hammike, theupxrising) they can vouch I need the heavier duty stuff.
