I used my TR pad all last summer and it is only 20" wide. 36" may feel like a king size bed. But that is open to experimentation.

I think that will be key!

This is probably the whole crux of the DIY savings myth. The final version may cost less than buying commercial, but the prototyping kills! Just another hobby expense I guess.
