Tim, great info, thanks. I'm new to hammocks in general and haven't a clue about CF. I'll ask my friend if he happens to know what weight it is.

most any kinda tape, duc, mylar, gorilla, even surgical, will patch C. another advantage, one does not need to hem raw edges, as a sheet (plus reinforcement) it canot ravel. for my gathered end H. I did not bind or wrap I just tied an overhand knot in the ends, I used the .33 and I weigh 180, kinda scary but it aint dumped me yet, but next time I think I will use the .55 or whatever. gnome

it is true that un-hemmed cuben won't unravel. However, it has been proven that a hemmed edge greatly reduces the likelihood of the material tearing as the edge stress on an un-hemmed length can open any micro tears formed by the cutting process and they can cause failures. hemmed edges have proven to be stronger for this stuff.

How is the comfort in a CF hammock? Do you feel "the lack of stretch"?

Even stronger, IMO, is folding the edge over 1/2" and bonding with adhesive transfer tape, but I agree that a sewn hem on the edge is probably strong enough for most uses.

    Tim,
Have you had any failures of quilts that you have made with the .33 material?

no reported failures with any materials actually. i did 1 patch job on a .48 that got zipped in a tent door, and it was just a few small spots that i added mylar tape to.

Don't bother with the bucketloads of CF you get... It's not worth the effort...
That said, send it to me, I'll dispose of it for you...

I'd love to see what you come up with!
