a chalenge for the diy minded people out there.

ok so here is the problem i need a solution for. I have a htc evo smart phone. i am going to use it on my thru hike of the a.t. this summer to keep a video journal. a member of the forum has already said he would edit them so that the rest of the forum could follow along. I think this would be cool i am just trying to think of the best way to take the video. with my htc evo I can take great video and send it to him on a regular bases while on the trail. now what i am looking for is somthing like the picstick to connect my phone to the hiking poles. the problem is a phone does not have a camera connection on it, so I am seaking the guidance of the creative diy minds of the forum to help me figure out this problem.

so the challange has been placed what see you all can figure out.

I guess I'd start with a hard case, dremel tool, super glue, and small bolt.

Here's one of many hard cases available for this phone.

See the photos below. Maybe they will generate some ideas.
I use one of these on the hip belt of my GG Vapor Trail.

You could always look at the various clamp type mounts that are sold to hold a cell phone in a car. some have a suction cup that connects to the windshield. Some of these have an articulated joint to move the pone and this could be used to adjust it if mounted to an end of a pole.

There are places that specifically sell adapters that stick to the back of a cell phone and have a threaded tripod connector on them. Or find a case that has a tripod adapter - I know they make them for iphones and they probably have them for the EVO too.

    Or better yet, use this:

I use the ultrapod, which is the same thing with a normal tripod connector, with my regular camera. The velcro lashes around my trekking pole to use it as a monopod or keep my camera ready while I hike, and I can remove it and either use it as a little tripod to set on a stump or something, or use the velcro to fasten it to poles, tree limbs, etc. Much more flexible than something like a sticpic, IMHO.

I can't find the link now, but there are some companies out there that specialize in making phone mounts for motorcycling. Some of them also incorporate waterproof cases. That might be an option, though could be pricey and expensive...

Duct Tape leaves a sticky residue when you peel it off, I wouldn't want that on my phone.
