Spinnaker weight and where to buy?

I noticed one retailer had Spinntex listed as .97oz per yard, or something close to that. I am confused, I though Spinnaker/Spintex (assuming they are the same) was supposed to be much lighter than the 1.1oz sil?
    There supply was discontinued.

Also, is anyone carrying this stuff right now? I am wanting to make a new light weight tarp for summer.

Most 1.1 silnylon is really about 1.4oz after coating. Be careful when purchasing Spinnaker from retailers outside of our vendors. It may not be waterproof.

d-p has done extensive searching for "Spinntex" type fabrics. He is probably pretty busy with his new business, dphammockgear, though.

So is Spinn really a form of silnylon?
If so, what weights should I be looking for?
    Thanks

Spinntex is silicon impregnated ripstop polyester, which is why it doesn't stretch. Silnylon as the name implies is made from nylon and is also silicone impregnated.

So the reason people get it is that it is ligher weight. The .2 oz per square yard difference adds up over the amount of fabric in a tarp and the other main reason is that it doesn't stretch like silnylon does.

    Cheers

This was the most recent thread I could find on the subject, so rather than starting a new one, I thought I'd bump this up...

I haven't been around as much lately - which vendors are actually stocking Spinn that's appropriate for tarps these days?
