Tells us that there are no Petroleum Distillates in the Martin's product.
    All righty then!

What are "solvents?" Are they not "petroleum distillates?"

Okay, it's dry...no visible degradation of the fabric. I tried to pull it apart, and was unsuccessful.

    Hope this helps??
I am trying to learn more about the petroleum distillates issue. I cannot seem to access the thread from the link in this post. (I am getting an message saying I don't have access priveleges or my account has lapsed. However, I am able to login and leave this message.) Since I can't seem to get there would you be so kind as to copy those posts here?

In the thousands of posts out there on pemethrin this seems to be the only one that gets at the petroleum distillates. I have tried the 10% farm store spermethin solution with petroleum distillates watrered down to .85% ('US Army Strength") and even after three washings and a few weeks the pants have a strong odor. With Sawyers 0.5% spray I smell nothing.

Is there any info out there on health issue of using the type with pertoleum distillates?

I recently treated my clothing & hammock with Spectracide "Bug Stop" (indoor/outdoor) 2.5% Permethrin, 32FlOz, $6.99, Rural King

I emptied the jug and then filled it 5 times with water to dilute. I guess that dropped it to about 0.42% concentration. This however seems to have worked. This past weekend (Memorial day) I was out with friends and only got 1 bug bite on my ankle. The others were using Off to keep the insects at bay. I was being mostly left alone. I will say that it doesn't kill spiders, at least not quickly or in the concentration I used. Waking up with a young wolf spider in the hammock with me would seem to confirm that, but I don't think I was bitten by that one.

Thus far, I am pleased with the result. It certainly seemed to keep the insects in check. I will keep a close eye on the fabric for damage in the future.

Can anyone give me an idea of how long it takes clothing to dry after treatment?

I have 3 outdoor cats that reside in my now heated garage (if they run away, at least I still have my heated garage).

I'd like to treat my equipment and clothing, but don't want to have to break out the atropine for the cats.

Any ideas how long I need to pre-occupy them for drying? Are the treated articles safe for them after they dry?
