As a rough idea it will be some where between Drummond and Mellon with the end point on the Mellon end. Sorry I don't have a more definite location at he moment.

Hello Snipen - I may be up for this hang as well. I never hiked this part of Wisconsin, but always wanted to. I usually end up in the Porkies in the UP and end up stealth camping. Another location to consider would be Sylvania in the UP. It's really set up more for canoes, but it does have many trails that connect most of the lakes, etc. The issue would be how strict their policies are about where to camp, etc. Last time I checked you had to camp at specific locations that were limited to the number of people and needed reservations, etc. But wow it's such a great place with all that old growth and many lakes. I have done lot's of bushwacking down lot's of the service roads in the Nicolet close to where you live also. Their is some good hiking in this area, but the trail quality may not be what everyone would like.

Hey Fritz you're definitely welcome to come. I have been through a lot of the Nicolet forest and itis great area, but I don't know of any trails that support multi day hikes. There are lots of day hike trails that I know of. It would make for a great campground location with then going out from there for the day hikes. The same goes for Silvania, I don't think it would support the multi day hike without canoeing part of the time. If you know of any trails that would support this let me know and I will look into them.
Thy are definitely great suggestions and I would be up for either at a different time, bit I don't think they are exactly what the group is looking for right now. Thank you for the ideas. And again if I'm wrong and the group is Interested in these please speak up and let me know.
wahoo!! this is sounding great. I'm up for whenever and whatever.
Then afterwards we can stop in for some Disc Golf at Highbridge

This is what DeLorme TOPO USA came up with for a distance from Porcupine Lake to Mellen. This would give you your 10 miles a day for three days.

Hey guys I just wanted to say that this hang is open to anyone who wants to come. Always happy to meet new people.
Since I live so close to where this being proposed I can help out with planning or logistics if your coming a distance just let me know.
Steve
P.s. trying to get out this afternoon to look over some of the trail heads.
So, is it safe to say that the Northern Hang will be on Memorial day weekend? Just asking because it would be cool to get a date set for those who need to schedule with work and spouses. I did have to explain to the Gf how I want to go in the woods with a bunch of dudes I met on the internet to hang, hike and fart.
