    Hennessey - Scout vs. Ultralite

I've noticed in researching the Hennessey hammocks that the scout (designed for junior campers) has the same hammock dimensions as the Ultralite (designed for up 6 footers). There some material differences obviously which calculates to about 12.5 oz difference. Is the extra money worth it? Is there something I'm missing?

They are listed as the same dimensions but I can tell you that my Scout and Hyperlite (which are listed as the same dimensions) feel "COMPLETELY" different! The Hyperlite feels sooooooo much more spacious than the Scout! Also my better half says the same thing, she said that when in the Scout she just barely fit and she is like 5'4" and when she tried out my Hyperlite, well lets just say I haven't layed in that thing since, haha!
When they say Scout, I think they mean Scout (like small child), just my experience though, others may have different!?!?

Thanks for the info CrankyBear. You confirmed my suspicions. Since I am a noob, I am just trying to find a decent system that's not gonna break the bank so to speak.

Decent really is in the eye of the beholder!!

You could get a Eno, Grand Trunk, or Warbonnett Traveler, then get a separate bug net, many different options there, you have the really light weight version by PapaSmurf, then you have the very well designed but heavier style of the Warbonnett bug net, or the much heavier Eno net!
Also their are many other hammocks to choose from, you can take a look through the vendor section here on the forum, or do a search and can pretty much find out all you would need to about the different hammocks (well minus some small details)!

    Good luck with your search/choices!!

you can order a Hennessy without a Tarp and save yourself about 30% .... then buy the tarp you want or use a DIY tarp or even cut one from a Poly blue tarp to start ....

I picked up a ULBA without the Tarp, but with the snakeskins for $140 by calling Hennessy.

This made all the difference to me ....

REALLY wish I would have thought of this. I bought my ULBA a few weeks ago and I already want to get a different tarp.

Yeah - i'll be the one to be different.

I'm 6'3" and find the scout surprisingly good. I'd happily hole up in one for the night (though i use teh DJ). I think everyone is a bit different and no real way to know without having a lie in the particular hammock.
