My first hammock and a question

Yesterday I hung in my first hammock. It's 11' of JoAnn's ripstop, the suspension is amsteel whoopie slings, and the adjustable ridgeline is 1.75 mm zing-it. It's currently set between 101 and 102 inches.

It seems that there's a lot of tension on the ridgeline, I'm talking guitar string tight. Is that right?

First off, congratulations! You may need to attach it higher in the tree (suspension) to get more angle on it. You may also try making the RL 109-110 " and see if that does anything for you? Hope that helps some.
    Good luck,

    Thanks!

I'll have to dig up a protractor to check my angles.

I chose the 102" ridge line length because the hammock length is around 10.25' after gathering the ends (the 11' was the raw fabric length). Should I still try to lengthen my ridge line?

You might be good with just adjusting the angle. Depending on how far apart the trees are you may need the straps 6 or 7 feet up in the tree.
    Good luck,

Thanks again, these trees are about 14' apart.
