    Hello from Tn!

    Hey everyone,

My name is Steve, I'm 24 and live just outside of Knoxville, TN. My backpacking buddy (SteveToTheO) is working on a DIY hammock and referred me to these forums. Both of us have been interested in hanging since we saw a fellow hiker using one. I'm looking forward to doing some reading, and maybe even construction within the near future.

I have been backpacking since I was a kid with scouts but only really got serious about it when I was 19. I can see the Smoky Mountains from my house and love to get out there as much as humanly possible. Sadly, I'm going to have to put of plans to do any form of hiking for most (probably all) of the warm weather hiking season here due to a car wreck last month that crushed my pelvis. I'll be walking again in the coming months, but I miss the outdoors.

welcome to the madness and never give up.

You might not be able to hike as fast or as far but you can still get back out there and have a good time.

In the last 1 1/2 years I have suffered a major wrenched knee, falling off a ladder (luckly the ground broke my fall) and a blood clot in the leg. It has slowed me up but I still get out and hike (just a bit slower than before)
I am still 18 but with 52 years of experience !

I was born in Crossville, just up I40 toward Nashville. I got started the same way. I was camping with my tent and got up one morning to see a couple of yellow tarps hung between the trees in the campsite across the road. turned out to be two Hennessy's.
