Blackbird Mod for UQ Comfort Idea

Haven't done this yet, but here's my idea. With the shock cord of the UQ kind of pressing into your face, it's more comfortable if something holds that shock cord away from the hammock. I was thinking about sewing a little tab onto the underside of the "left wing" of the Blackbird and onto the channel of the under quilt, then attaching them with either a piece of shock cord or line with a cord lock. You could adjust how much the under quilt is pulled away from the hammock, if at all, and with a minute of fine tuning, make it so there isn't a gap for cool air to seep in, but the pressure of the shock cord isn't on your face. Oh great HF community, what does your almighty wisdom say about this idea?

HobieCat had an idea that sounds similar to what you're describing. He posted it on the 3rd page in this thread. I haven't tried it yet myself, but maybe he will comment on how it works.

i would like to see pics of your setup to see what you are talking about...
i never heard of the shock cord from an UQ in someones face ...
if this is the case maybe AHE's UQ triangles might be in order but i still would like to see pics of what your talking about
the one problem i see about pulling you UQ away from the hammock is going to be air gaps .... when you move around you might not have a good seal and would need to re- adjust every time this would be a pain

might be the way your setting up your UQ and hammock...
It puts the Underquilt on it's hammock ... It does this whenever it gets cold

Give me a couple weeks to finish up finals, but once I'm home and settled, I'll give this my best shot! To give some more feedback on my UQ setup, the UQ is on the channel suspension with shock cord running to each end of the hammock. To do this, it requires stretching the shock cord (which is intended) but it results in pulling in on the hammock. Think about a rubberband being stretched between two fingers (like pulling them apart). The legs of the rubberband are parallel and narrow. The same thing happens with the shock cord of the UQ. When I lay in my hammock, I am stretching those two legs apart, but one of them presses into the zipper side of my Blackbird, which is right where my face lies. It's not terribly uncomfortable or anything. A pillow or strategically placed arm does the trick, but I thought there may be a better way.
