    how about something a bit more preemtive? maybe soaking the first few feet of tree strap with bee's wax or spray water proofing? just asking, cause i would think that this would drive me up a wall. and for casual use i'm afraid that tossing the straps would easyer in the long haul

    Alcohol (denatured,isopropyl) cleans sap as well as anything and most of us carry it in our packs too. Its eaqsier to remove when fresh and a quick wipe in the field with a dried wet wipe soaked in alcohol will take it all off.

    We use GoJo where i'm from in NC. Takes sap off just about anything.
