    OP here.

    1. Lots of ways to secure the hammock. Lots of ways of building in hang adjustment
    2. The thread subject reads: ....."adjustment to hang."
    3. For most everbody, noobs included, twisting and re- cinching an encircling strap held fast by friction to a tree is, what the post suggest: easy.
    4. Not mentioned is that every time you hang on non-level ground, you will likely be raising the wrapped strap on one of the trees, anyway. Twisting the wrap a little to shorten or lengthen can be done at the same time.

The way I read it he is saying to spool the tree straps around the tree to adjust pitch height/tension. Which while effective and probably the most basic way to do things, IMO is not the easiest way to setup or readjust the suspension when we have things like Whoopieslings, Dutch clips, biners, and rings. Which can all be used individually or together.

    Just my two cents though.

not to mention youd be limited by the tree, if you have an 8" dia tree, then you shorten the strap 8" no more or less. just about as bad as slap straps, with fixed loops. i guess you could always find the smallest tree possible, but what do you do when youve got mammoth 3ft dia trees? thats one hell of an adjustment!

I just use cheap china-mart cambuckle straps never had one fail yet, been hanging on them for two plus years. I've never had to tie a knot in my suspension just loop around tree, hook line, hook hammock end, pull to correct tension. Some may even tie a overhander at the cam but I've found it unneccessary...

Paracord will stretch. Go to Wal-Mart and get some tie down straps and cut off the black hooks.(Not easy, by the way.) I used a dremel tool. Wrap those around tree and use a marlin spike hitch. (Do a search on those.) Then you can clip your biner to the knot above the toggle. I've done that in the past and it has worked ok. However like they say make sure the biner is on the knot not the toggle.

ETA: Go watch Shugs videos also Grizzly Adams. More info than you can handle. (With a little tomfoolery to boot.)
If it weren't for physics and law enforcement, I'd be unstoppable.
