Appalachian Trail in VA June 24-26

I'll be leading a small group on a short trip next weekend. We plan to start just outside Front Royal on Friday morning and hike to Bears Den Hostel on Sunday around lunch time. That two and a half days about about 35 miles, give or take.

If interested, feel free to give a shout.

I was just in VA on the 10th. We went from Fox Creek down to Elk Garden. we stayed at Wise shelter and Thomas Knob shelter. Near the Damascus Virginia area.

we had a blast. are you in local to this area?

    Thumbs up

Here's a link to the photo album I posted of this trip, with captions which are a trip report. Me and three gals, two of whom are past thru-hikers.

Rain Man's hike from VA 602 outside Front Royal up to Bears Den Trail Center & Hostel.

Convert, I'm in Nashville, Tennessee. Just finished hiking Virginia. Got 999.7 AT miles under my soles now. LOL

I recently overnighted the section between Linden/66 and Bears Den/Route 7. The rollercoaster was pretty rough, especially because I did 5 miles of it after doing almost 15 already prior.

Overall fun section! Nice pics, I have some very similar ones

See attached photo. The power company was, or had been, working on a new power line. I suppose while stringing the line overhead, they didn't want people milling around underneath it. That's my guess. We didn't see a soul there.

Thanks for the explanation Rain man. At least it was new transmission lines and not a row of houses! Hopefully they are way down the road!
