extra sturdy hammock

I just started hanging and am loving my ENO double nest. The problem I have is the weight rating. I looked for a commercially available hammock that could support 600 or 750 pounds to share or just as an outdoor love seat. I could not find one that was rated to that so i am thinking of making my own. Is there any way of doing this? i was thinking of just using a double layer of 1.7 rip-stop and whipping the ends rather then using a sewn loop but am unsure if that would meet my needs, any suggestions?

To get 600 lbs you might have to go with 3 or 4 layers. Sewn channels will work as you run the loop ( I use 3 to 4 ft length of 7/64 amsteel that I tied into a loop using a double fishersmans bend) thru the channel, cinch it up, and wrap the loop loosely around the base of the sewn channel creating a mushroom like head with the end of the hammock and then run the loop thru the wraped loop and out the end of the hammock thru the U of the mushroom. Once the end of the loop has been drawn thru the mushroom you can make the loop around the hammock tight.

It's a little pricey but the Clark Vertex has a 700 lbs limit and is Desinged for two people in one hammock.

+1 on 3 to 4 layers. Are you planning on backpacking with this rig?

you also need to think of other things in this weight range (more then you normally would)..

like what your hanging from.

The angle of your hang is also always important, but in the 500lb weight range and incorrect hang angle will push you past the limits of splices in some materials .
