    Hello from good 'ole Mississippi

    Hey (y')all! I've been a member of the forum for a few weeks now, but started out as more of a stalker trying to learn. This week I've been trying to be more of a contributing member by posting some and I figure it's high time to say hello and introduce myself! I'm from down in the southern part of Mississippi (it's HOT right now!). I grew up hunting, fishing, and camping, so I'm no newbie to the outdoors, but I've just recently taken up hammock camping and hiking/backpacking. I love the forums and have learned a TON here and from some pretty entertaining videos from one of HF's own celebrities (Thanks Shug). I've still got a lot to learn and figure out, but I'm happy to know I've got a great base of knowledgeable people I can turn to here if I ever need advice or help (and there are quite a few pretty respectable people here too judging by the PIF thread and all the help REV got when his gear was stolen. Warms my heart to know there are still good people in this world and makes me proud to call myself a part of this group. End sappiness). I look forward to many years of hanging and enjoying the camaraderie on this forum (and to getting all my friends hooked on hammocks, but that's another story...). Thanks everyone, hope to see some of you on the trail someday!

    Bradley

    Hey hey, Mobile isn't too far down the road! I graduated college from the University of Southern Mississippi in Hattiesburg, and Mobile and New Orleans were always the two places to take weekend trips to!

    Dale Gribble: I'm thinking, "new hammock." For me, laying and swaying in a hammock is like a steady morphine drip without the risk of renal failure.

    Randy : yea but just remember yer roots and where ya come from....you got Hennessy in yer blood son......

    Welcome to HF!
    I've got in-laws in Tylertown that we go and visit every summer, so I'm familiar with the "hot" that you're referring to.
    .
    So many trees, so little time...
    We follow where the Swamp Fox guides,
    His friends and merry men are we;
    And when the troop of Tarleton rides,
    We burrow in the cypress tree.
    The turfy hammock is our bed,
    Our home is in the red deer's den,
    Our roof, the tree-top overhead,
    For we are wild and hunted men.

    My uncle pastored a church in Tylertown for a short while, so I know a bit about the area. It's definitely hot! You know it's bad when the weather forecast says it's currently 89* outside and feels like 101*. Humidity bites.

    Hey, welcome! I lived in Jackson as a small boy. My dad was a Marine so I lived most places in the south. I remember the rain...
