"Back in the day" I used to backpack with a hammock in "the Cypress", too. It's a great, no, it's the only way to stay above the fire ants and rising rain waters. More comfy, too.

While I absolutely don't miss FL, I really do miss the 'Glades, if that makes sense.

Im in the same mind state! Im going to be moving to New York City pretty soon for school ( music school ) I probably won miss FL what I know I will miss is the Everglades. Its so nice out here, even with muggy temperature its so beautiful and if you go towards the mangroves in Big Cypress ( near the tampa area in the gulf) You get some AMAZING camping spots. can practically hang over the water in some spots. The deep glades are some prime spots too. Wouldnt trade those memories for the world.

Ill probably be camping out in SLC,Utah in August so Ill post pictures on that soon enough.

also just finished sewing up my polypro webbing

NYC? You're getting closer to the Adirondacks. You'll like the Adirondacks! Millions of acres of nothing but great hiking and camping. Getting away from anything an everything is easy.

The deep 'Glades are indeed awesome. Did a 10 day solo in "the Cypress" many years ago. During the dry season, of course. Ate like a king, frog legs, fish, crayfish, turtles, and just about every other thing the swamp had to offer. Loved every second of that trip... But not enough to ever move back to FL!

    Again, welcome to HF!
