    DIY top cover

    Hi folks,
Have a DIY hammock and tarp, but looking at making a top cover similar to FishnFinns, or BBO top cover for blackbird, but to fit my rig. Has anyone designed such a thing? Surely soemone has, but didn't see much doing a search.

    Thanks!

What is your rig? Can you post pics?

There's a pic of my hammock in my gallery. Basically just a gathered end hammock from Just Jeff's design, 101" fixed ridgeline length. 1 tie out on both sides of hammock to provide width.

I looked, and watched a vid on the BBO. I can't really help on this one. I make the hennesey clone, modded to make it easier for me to sew on bugnets and and covers with zippers. Did you watch the vid on AHE's site? I could just about make one from that, and it sure looks like it would fit your hammock if you added the 2 tieouts for the rigging that goes through the elastic surrounded slits on the sides of the cover.

I made one for my Blackbird. But it's pretty simple; just measure the top of your hammock when it's setup with the tie-outs, then add 3" all the way around. I cut "V's" into the outer 3" at each ridgeline and at each tie-out, then sewed a patch of velcro on each side of the "V" to close it. Worked perfectly! I used 1 oz/sy non-downproof camo nylon from BackwoodsDaydreamer. I'll see if I can find some pictures and post them here.

Making it simple is all I can do. If it was complex you would need someone smarter.
