Trip out west? Northeast? Need to leave the TX heat!

I have managed to evade the Texas heat so far by going to MI and CO. I'm back home now with 4 weeks left of summer break and would love to take a trip where I can hike somewhere cool, without the threat of fires. I'm watching the jet stream and trying hard to will it to drop Any suggestions?

I just got back from a backpack trip in Yosemite, the weather was perfect, in the mid 70s during the day, and a little chilly at night. Lots of snow in the sierras this year, but if you go in August or September, you should be able to make it up to the high sierra. Lots of possibilities for hiking with perfect weather!

A week to ten days would be fine. I don't mind driving, but would love to only drive as far as I need to get cool

In Kalifornia think above 6,000' or coastal. As to fires, well ya pays yer money ya takes yer chances this year. Lots of fuel due to the wet year (I won't get into forrest management theories for the last 50 years), there will be fires.

Maybe the PCT from Walker Pass north until you run out of time?

You could come up to Idaho and go play in the snow.

Superior Hiking trail is pretty cool. You could hike almost the whole thing in 10 days.

Went skiing last weekend. Still waiting for most of the hiking trails to clear.
