Welcome to the MADNESS!!!!!!!! I converted last year and I will never sleep on the ground again if I can avoid it. Hammocking might not cut weight out of your pack depending on equipment but it sure makes for some good sleeping.... Be sure to attend a local hang even if you don't have a hammock or gear, I know I have plenty to set you up for a weekend of fun... You'll have a chance to see many different commerical models as well as DIY equipment too...
