Welcome to the forums! Like you, I slept on the ground way too long before discovering this forum and I've been floating on air ever since!

You can't go wrong with an ENO double. Even better if you can snag a guardian bugnet for a good price. I found a guardian net for $35 on a discount site. Get creative if you can. If you can get some good deals on gear with your REI gift card, you can always trade that stuff for things like whoopie slings or other cottage stuff. I'd say you should most definately be able to pick up a hammock and bugnet for well under $100, especially at the attic sale.
