Red face Portable Hammock Stand (Yet Another), non-back breaker!

In celebration of having my account name changed to my trail name (formerly known as rreevestmmk), my first official thread as the "Aardvark"....

Wanted a test bed for hammock materials, and a way to hang at Scouting outings in open fields.... my target was a non-back breaking center beam and a footprint no bigger than a normal tent.

As the vidoe shows, I can go from Deployed with Hammock, fold up for transports, then completely redeploy and have hammock hanging in under 6 minutes.

This isn't ultralight, but it does fold down and truck transport well (also can get in my Camry if rear seats folded down, but don't tell my wife)

Google Sketchup model, I modified a bit from original, wood is same dimensions:

and the album the rest of the photos are in:

    Overview photo:
.... the Aardvark (earth pig)... a rather unremarkable creature whose sole claim to fame is that it is the first animal listed in the dictionary.

That style does allow for lower hangings. Looks like if you alternate the baseboard sides of the uprights, it might fold down a little slicker. Good work!

Thanks, from the sketchup model, I would add about 6" to each of the upright beams, and maybe make the base 9' rather than 8', to handle longer hammocks. Slept good last night, and had about 9" clearance to the ground.

I'm glad you changed your name. I was wondering if you were some kind of weirdo.
