    hang then hike

    OutandBack.

I agree with your vision. A two night hang with picnic tables, toilets, and fire rings, then the choice of two hikes.

    Option 1:

Kelly Dahl for the hang. Choice of Indian Peaks north loop or hike into Diamond Lake.

    Option 2:

Turquoise Lake hang. Choice of north or south on Colorado Trail. South give the Mt. Massive option.

    It can be done.

    Morning food,
I was hoping you would offer some places that would fit this hang idea of offering the guys/gals choices in their Colorado Summer Hang experience.

Would you be willing to lead this trip like last year?
    I will offer to assist.

I'm game for either, although I'd slightly lean towards Indian Peaks b/c my buddy's mom is the mayor of Nederland and I've never been up that way.

    co-lead

    O&B,

I thought we worked well co-leading the 2011 hang and hike. I will lead the long hike if you will lead the mellow, TBD, hike. We can work together on the hang.

The description of the north loop in Indian Peaks is "This incredible, three- to four-day backcountry excursion in the northern section of the Indian Peaks Wilderness Area has views, wildflowers, alpine meadows, a waterfall, high mountain passes, and beautiful alpine lakes. This hike has it all."

But do we need the lure of a 14'er or a segment of the Colorado Trail to gather a crowd?

    14ers are for tourists.

I'd love to do something with some hammock-heads this summer, although I can't really commit at this point in time. I will be hiking alot this summer with Genuine Draft away on her internship. I'll keep an eye on this thread and try to make sure I carve out a few days when we start getting closer.

The GF and I have been talking about a vacation out west, this could be an awesome addition to the trip. I'm going to committ tentatively with a +1. Most I've seen of colorado is from the Air Port in Colorado Springs.. I may never leave

    +1
CO Trail has appeal to me, but not paramount. Last year's coordination by food & Out&Back was ideal and the group hang followed by a scenic hike of several days ending with a group lunch was about as good as it gets. Thanks again guys, the memories keep coming... which is a blessing for ol' curmudgeons like waddy and myself. My preference = let's do it again w/o too many changes in form.
