Grandson and I hanging out in Scotland

We decided to drive up to the highlands for a chill out weekend. Well, chill out we did - it was cold, and it rained all weekend and the wind blew and blew.
But we were just fine in our Paradise Hammocks and tarps. Here's a few photos.

This is the sleep suit that Cameron's grandma made for him. It's like an athlete's warm up suit (so they don't catch a chill) and he wears it inside his sleeping bag when it's really cold.

Then the sun came out. But the wind still tried to make my tarp take off.

Looks like a swell trip despite the weather. Nice report and pictures. I may have to look into a sleep suit for myself. Thanks for sharing!

His grandma owns a business making soccer strips for pro teams. She also makes these warm up suits so she just made one for Cameron. It works really well.
The sleeping bag he uses is made from fiber pile with a Pertex outer shell. It has a full length zip which opens top and bottom and two zipped armholes.

He gets his quilted romper suit on, opens the sleeping bag zip half way down and half way up, puts his feet through so he's still standing on the ground, pulls it up over his shoulders, arms through the shoulder slots, zips up the front then uses his hands to spread the hammock and slide over the edge.
Once he's in, he slips off his shoes and leans out to put them inverted on two sticks (so the rain and bugs don't get in), pops his feet into the bag then zips it down so the bottom's closed. All he has to do then is draw his arms inside and close the zips from the inside.
When he needs to pee in the night he just pops an arm out of the slot, reaches up to the ridge line and gets his wide mouth nalgene bottle. He rolls on his side, does the business, screws the lid back on and replaces the bottle on the ridge line (In a wee bag held with a biner). Then straight back to sleep. He's just turned 14 and I recon he's got the whole process cracked.
Mind you, he's been doing this since he was a little lad
