Sept 24-26 Sat-Mon trip up into the High Peaks from the Tahawus Trailhead

We'll meet at the Tahawus Trailhead (N44.0891, W-74.0562) at 10am on Saturday, Sept. 24

I'm thinking about an overnight trip in September, the hike out to Hanging Spear Falls, an impressive set of falls in the High Peaks, near Marcy...to get there, you go in from the Tahawus Trailhead near Newcomb, and hike in about 7 miles...this would be a tougher hike (more vertical), but as a side-benefit, we could spend some time exploring the ghost town of Tahwaus at either end of the trip...

Ya gotta stop at Oscars' smoke house in Warrenton( I think that is the town ) while up that way. They got burned out and rebuilt. I do believe they are open again. Yuummmm!
I like refried beans. That's why I wanna try fried beans, because maybe they're just as good and we're just wasting time. You don't have to fry them again after all.

I'm closing in on Flowed Land and Hanging Spear Falls for the weekend of Sept. 23-26, taking either Friday or Monday (not both) to hike up, set up a basecamp, and explore the area a bit...

I'm not a peak-bagger, but there lots of great peaks within easy reach from Flowed Lands...my thinking is to meetup midday or early afternoon on the first day to hike up to Flowed Lands and set up camp at/near one of the lean-tos, and then explore and enjoy the High Peaks for the rest of the weekend...
