I have my cotton amazon style hammock hanging fromm wall to wall on eye screws in the wall a few feet from the window a/c. It is the only fitting way in the 112F heat we are having here in KS

Yeah, our lows in the Phoenix area are usually about 90 this time of year. It feels cool compared to the 110's for the highs though.

You should try living in our hot summer days. Over 100 with close to 100% humidity. It does feel like your in a sauna 24 hours per day.

I spent a weekend camping in the Texas heat just for a trip report.

Got a camp site at Stephen F. Austin State Park. Drove in so I could carry PLENTY of water wtih me. The best sites for hammock camping at this park are the sites with shelters. They have the best trees. ENO DN hammock, Kelty Noah's 12 tarp. Hung the tarp as close to head high as I could get. Lots of air flow. Stayed in shade as much as possible. Did very little physical activity. Drank lots of water. Light meals. Slept commando with a spray bottle of water. Wake up hot, spray water, go back to sleep. Read the latest Simone Green novel about the Droods (the one that follows Eddie getting killed by an immortal that looked like Molly's sister). Spent two nights, packed up and came home.

Why camp in the heat? Because. I've camped in the heat before. Last year with daytime temps of 105.

I spent a couple of weeks getting my body used to the excessive heat. I started spending a few minutes outside in the shade in the morning. Over the two weeks I worked up to spending 10:00am to 5:00pm outside without distress.

I do not recommend spending time in the heat to anyone. People die from this heat. While outside I slowed everything I did to about half speed. I walked slower and only short distances. Wore a hat, long sleeved vented camping shirts that I got from Gander Mt, and light weight long camping pants.

My camping trip to the state park was surprisingly enjoyable. I was hot but not uncomfortable.
