    Canadian long-wk/ed 1-8-11 - wife camping

When we got married she said "Never, EVER, will I go camping"
This girl was born in Hollywood Cal. and years ago wore only mini skirts
and held her pinky out while holding an umbrela drink . . .
She's some kinda conservitive these days . . . however.

So last year when I did the Skattebo Reach Trail, solo
    she wanted to go to a lake so bad . . . and we couldn't afford a motel . . .
    Tee Hee, well so I said . . .

. . . she packed up the girls and the t-e-n-t and c-c-c-c-a-m-p-e-d

So this year I said "how about we go to that same camp ground and have some family time . . . "

The place has a pool, mini golf, and showers, and toylets . . .

    She said "yea sure"

It is a combo M/Home-tenting site and we were the last to book.
so we got the non-site, camp site,
and as it turned out the best of all.

My wife mentioned to the managers that hubby only slept in a hammock,
and would that be OK, and they said OK.

    So here we are . . .

I never got to many shots with the fam in as they were at the pool most of the time . . .

I showed the spider web (below) to my daughters . . .

. . . and said, "this weekend, this will be the only website that I look at . . . "

The hammock got a comment from everyone that walked by,
and I could tell many walked by, just to have a look at it.

    "How cool man"
    "Nice rig, eh"
    "wow dude that's sweet"
    etc. etc.
Also the first setup I had just the light ridge line around the tree . . .
    and the manager questioned it
    so I swaped it for a Clark tree strap . . .
    I figured . . . make him happy,
and we can do it again,
    or someone else can.

I haden't planed on hiking so didn't bring my trekking poles,
so had to use the E-Bear Fence poles as an awning set up.

    Which worked fine.

This was the most relaxed I have been in 10 -12 years . . .
saturday drove there and set up
sunday, sat around all day . . . got up a dozon times to make coffee . . .
    and had a afternoon snooooooze . . .
Monday packed up and drove home.

    Sorry it ain't the Piny woods . . . but sometimes, I gotta do what I gotta do . . .

I see Pine trees. That's piney woods enough in my book. Plus it's better than being stuck indoors all weekend. And if you promise not to tell anyone, sometimes I prefer to drive to camp than hike too.

Anytime in the outdoors could be classified as the piney woods...and well, you had pine trees

Plus, you got the family out there to enjoy it with you!

Looks like a great weekend trip and a new fan to camping.

Great improvization on your tarp set up using the e bear poles.

Sometimes just getting out (even with the family!!!) is just about the best thing needed to finally exhale a little. Looks like it was a lot of fun.

Ahh, the fine art of the afternoon snooze...I can't remember when I've last had one of those, but fully intend to try and make it happen on vacation this year

    Great pics, looks like fun.

    Cheers

That's a GREAT line to use on this current generation! I've got to remember that one!

Thanks for all the pics. It certainly looks like a relaxing weekend with the fam!
