Long Time Lurker from Central VA

I feel remiss that I haven't introduced myself and I expect my reputation has preceded me in some areas of the forum.

I've been a hammocker for several years but only recently got serious about getting my pack size and weight down and most recently into DIY. Mostly because I am tweaking my motorcycle pack for more and more lengthy trips.

I come from ground dwelling tipi living and tipi mods with stoves and what not. Mostly with the hammock I am fascinated with the equipment and the minimalism that can be obtained. I'm a gear freak.

So, FYI, I live about 12 miles from the AT where the BRP meets the Skyline Drive. So if anyone hiking through needs a rest stop near Waynesboro, (I'm on the East side of the mountain range but it's still friendly here,) feel free to hit me up for an overnight. I have room and will pick you up and take you for ice cream or pizza! I often offer a lift to hikers on their way into Waynesboro for supplies.

So Cheers to all! Happy to have joined the group and look forward to meeting others.

    ttfn,
    HFG

    welcome!

I lived in Charlottesville for a while going to school, got up by your coordinates as often as I could...particularly in the summer when the temperature difference between down in the valley and up on the ridge might be 10 degrees.

Welcome from the Sunshine State. Timberrr and I will be not too far from your neck of the woods when we go the Greyson Highland Hang in September.

Yes I'm in Crozet which is halfway between BRP mm 0 and Charlottesville. Beautiful area if I do say so myself. I greatly enjoy going from my 768' elevation up to 3500' in about a half an hour. There's a whole different atmosphere up there.

Gumbo, Greyson Highlands is quite a bit more than a stone's throw from me. I guess Va is VA unless you live here. Pretty country down there though. Have a nice time!

Thanks again all and Flatline, I grew up in Winston-Salem, but I won't hold where you're from against you.

    Word gets around.

Crozet Pizza is incredible. Fodors, Zagat's, you name it they've reviewed it. And highly recommended it.

    But it's a secret... shhhh...
