Question Tying 1.5" (40mm) Webbing tree straps??

    Hi All,

I ordered some 1.5" webbing, and it seems really wide (funnily enough 1.5")

I'm going to stitch some tree straps and leave one end free to use a marlin spike hitch and my newly made whoopies.

Any tips for tying this? It looks like it might slip a bit as it's so wide...

    Cheers

I thought the toggle was what prevented the MSH from coming undone. If that's true, then simply use a longer toggle. If not, what am I missing?

I don't think you're missing anything - it was a bit of a dumb question, just when I tied a knot it seemed huge

I hadn't thought of wider toggles

When I use a MSH, especially on wider webbing, i do it over the spine of a biner and it holds great and I have the security of it not slipping off.

Naw, that's perfectly fine. I've just never used the MSH...well, at all. I was genuinely curious as to whether I'd missed some important part of the set-up for it.

I use something similar with a cow hitch as a tightener for my tarp's CRL, and the length of the toggle matters some. I tend to use trail sticks for that, and I've found that ones under about three inches long just don't have enough surface area for the line to grab properly.

Anyway, thanks for clearing that up for me.
